The foresight method is where you start or expand a business with the main product being a polar trend that no one really knows about, but has potential to be huge soon.

The Foresight Method For Starting A New Business Or Expanding An Existing One

The foresight method is where you start or expand a business with the main product being a polar trend that no one really knows about, but has potential to be huge soon.

What is the Foresight method?

The foresight method is where you start or expand a business with the main product being a polar trend that no one really knows about, but has potential to be huge soon.

It’s a risky move but pays off if done right, because it’s like betting on something you think might be the ‘next big thing’ before even knowing it.

This gives you the benefit of being early:

  • Ads are cheap because no one else is bidding on the term
  • SEO wise, the SERP is clear since no one else is competing. You also may retain your #1 rank thanks to seed merit
  • You establish your brand before anyone else

The list goes on and on…..

Examples:

  • Selling matcha before it became viral
  • Starting a store to sell activewear before the fashion style became as universal as it is today
  • Umax app - these guys built an app targeting the looksmaxing community in the very early days of looksmaxing, well before looksmaxing had become mainstream
  • Some of the most successful webflow design agencies were founded before webflow had even reached 100k users.
  • Starting a handheld vacuum company back when there was little competition. Now that cordless vacuums are popular, the competition for manufacturers are also high.
  • Building a vibe coding tool back in 2023 well before vibe coding became the norm for software devs. Nowadays, there are plenty of new vibe coding platforms coming out - causing the high competition.

Important note

You can play it safe by waiting until the hype solidifies, but just know that the longer you wait and the more popular the polar trend becomes is inversely correlational with the level of potential free traffic and brand authority you could get if you started earlier.

Later start  = less seed merit but less risk

Early start = more seed merit but more risk. The topic may never become popular or it may just be short lived hype.

When applying the foresight method, the product category or topic you choose must……

1 - have lot's of early hype with no mainstream hype

2 -  not be mainstream…..yet

Early hype = mentions, people talking about it. Etc….

When results do not make sense on google, this is always a good thing. All big topics today once had messy SERPs.
